Short profileThe Province of Mantova, as local authority, is aimed at promoting the development of the area, in accordance with environmental standards and fundamental rights granted by the Italian Constitution and international organisations. The Province inspires its action to the collaboration with public and private stakeholders, to the principles of impartiality, transparency, efficiency and simplification of administrative activity. It recognises and valorises the associative pluralism as basic principle for its own administrative activity. The Province of Mantova: (a) fosters a balanced development of the area; (b) cares for and valorises the environmental, natural and cultural resources; (c) promotes the implementation of an integrate welfare system with particular reference to less favoured subjects and fosters actions for cultural and social integration of immigrants; (d) contributes to promoting positive actions for gender equality and fostering equal opportunities, according to the principles of the European Community in the field of equal opportunities. The actions of the Province in the field of industrial, handcraft and business activities are aimed at supporting and developing the industrial districts plans, fostering the cooperation with Business Service Centres for Innovation, Research and Trade, implementing actions in favour of handcraft activities, reorganising the competences in the field of the commerce. Activities in the field of Regional InnovationThe Province of Mantova is the project manager of the RITTS project in East Lombardy. The RITTS programme is implemented by the province of Bergamo, Brescia and Cremona. The aim is to elaborate a project for improving the innovation transfer process between the district service centres and the regional infrastructures through a bottom-up approach. The project, co-funded by the Region of Lombardy, has been inserted in the "Network of Innovating Regions in Europe". The East Lombardy takes part in the Thematic Network CAFE (Consortia for Agro-Food in Europe) co-ordinated by Yorkshire & Humberside Regional Technology Network Ltd (UK). |
