Short profileThe Oltenia Region is located in the southwestern part of Romania; a number of five counties comprises the region: Dolj, Olt, Valcea, Mehedinti and Gorj. The hydrology network and the relief configuration give the region its main energetic role in Romania. Oltenia Region is the first aluminium producer in Romania. Other top activities are: car industry, electrical machines, textiles, chemical products, food products, agriculture, mining and forestry are traditional activities. There are also strong opportunities in tourism (mountain, balneal, rural, and cultural). The Regional Development Agency South West Oltenia performs its activity in 5 offices spread in the whole Oltenia region: Craiova (central headquarters), Targu Jiu, Drobeta Turnu Severin, Slatina and Ramnicu Valcea. The Agency, in partnership with the Local Public Institutions and with other representative institutions from South West Oltenia has the following activities: Programming:This activity consists in the elaboration of the Regional Analysis and facility of the programming activities of the Regional Partners, organized through the 8 Regional Working Groups Investments Promoting and Regional Marketing: The Agency offers information regarding the business opportunities and coordinates together with the local and national authorities the investment promoting activity.
